Cookie Policy

We believe in being clear and open about how we collect and use data related to you. This Cookie Policy is part of Rate It Privacy Policy, and covers the use of cookies and similar technologies between your device and our website.

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer or device, via your web browser, at the request of the websites you visit or applications you use. Cookies record things like your preferences and settings, which help give us the information we need to provide you with the most consistent and relevant experience. We also use cookies to record information about experiments or new improvements we might test to track how you use our services and find out whether they were effective. Some of the cookies we use are removed as soon as you leave our website, because we don’t need to store this information between visits. They’re called ‘temporary’ or ‘session’ cookies. By contrast, ‘persistent’ cookies enable us to recognize you when you make return visits to our platform. They automatically expire when they reach a specified expiry date , unless you delete them earlier.

We also use similar technologies referred to as ‘tags’, ‘tracking pixels’, ‘local storage’, ‘scripts’, ‘device identifiers’, etc. These are implemented on our platform and may be used together with cookies to enable information to be stored on, or transmitted to and from, the device you use to access Rate It.

In this policy we collectively refer to all of these technologies as “cookies”. For more details on the main cookies we use, please see ‘Types of cookies and how we use them’ below.

We might add, remove or update the cookies we use, and update this policy accordingly. We’ll let you know of any significant changes to this policy when you next access our services, or by other communications. First-party cookies are set by the website you visit; only that website can access and read those cookies.

Third-party cookies are set by someone other than the owner of the website you visit. These cookies can be used to track you on other websites that use the same third-party service. Cookies on our website may be set by us, third parties we're working with, or independent third parties, such as advertisers.

Types of cookies and how we use them

Strictly necessary cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the basic functions of our website. For that reason, you can’t opt out of these cookies. We restrict these cookies to only those that are essential for us to deliver the services you have requested. For example, we use strictly necessary cookies to provide login functionality and support services, remember information such as your language preferences and the features we make available to you based on factors such as the device you are using, and your city- or country-level geographic location. We also use strictly necessary cookies to give you the option to accept or reject cookies, to help us remember your cookie choices and settings, and to keep track of if and when you accepted our Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and gave consent for email marketing.

Performance cookies

Performance cookies gather statistics we use to make our website even better. The information collected via the performance cookies tracks how you use our website during your visit. It helps us understand visitor usage patterns, identify, and diagnose problems or errors you may encounter, and make better strategic decisions in improving the website experience.

You can opt out of the use of these cookies on your device by following the instructions in ‘How can you opt out of cookies?’ below.

To do so, these companies may place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser (including through the use of pixel tags). They may also use these technologies, along with the information they collect about your online use, to recognize you across the devices you use, such as a mobile phone and a laptop.
